COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program

for Small Business and Registered Charity Customers (CEAP-SB)

If you’re a small business or registered charity customer having difficulty paying your bill due to COVID-19, you may be eligible to receive a one-time credit of up to $1,500.
The Government of Ontario is providing $8 million to support small business and registered charity customers struggling to pay their energy bills as a result of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Business (CEAP-SB) is delivered directly by electricity and natural gas utilities and unit sub-meter providers (USMPs), further to rules laid out by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB).

CEAP-SB is a one time, on-bill credit for eligible small business and registered charity electricity and natural gas customers to help them catch up on their energy bills and resume regular payments.

Questions?

What if I already received CEAP-SB prior to the Jan 14, 2021 amendment?

Previous applicants will be notified that the maximum amount of funding per customer is now $1,500, and if they have an Overdue Balance on their bill they can submit a new Application Form for additional credits.  The maximum credit amount that can be provided shall be $1,500 less the amount of the credit previously provided to the CEAP-SB eligible account.
What if my CEAP application was rejected to the Jan 14, 2021 amendment?
Such applications shall be re-processed as quickly as practicable and no later then February 15, 2021.  The amount of the Overdue Balance shall be determined based on the date of the re-processing, not the dat eon which the Application Form was originally received.
